Why Mohbad was buried in a haste. Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father, Ilerioluwa Aloba, commonly known as Mohbad, has revealed insight into the late artiste’s quick burial, who died on September 12 at the age of 27, with the funeral taking place the next day.

Aloba mentioned Yoruba culture as the reason for the rapid burial in a recent interview published by Temilola Sobola (@TemilolaSobola) through Instagram on Tuesday, explaining that it is usual not to prolong the burial of a deceased person when both parents are still living.

He said that if Mohbad had died at a younger age, the idea of burying his body at a later date may have been entertained.

Aloba further revealed that the land where his son was laid to rest belonged to Mohbad and that he had given it to him to build a church. He clarified that the decision to bury him swiftly was in accordance with Yoruba customs.

“In Yoruba land, his corpse is not the kind to be kept when both of his parents are still alive,” he explained.

“The land where Mohbad was buried was his only land, the only land I know he owned.”

“Truly, he gave me the land on which to build my church because we both agreed to build it there and because that was the only land I knew him to have.”

Mohbad, a former record label signee of Naira Marley’s Marlian Music, left the label in February 2022.

Mohbad’s management scheduled a candlelight parade and homage night for the late musician on Thursday (tomorrow), while the Lagos State Governor summoned the Department of Security Services to join the investigation into the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, on Wednesday.
