Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, joined political figures in congratulating Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, for the unprecedented success of her latest movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah.’ The film set a new record by grossing N1 billion within 21 days of its release, making it the first Nollywood film to achieve such a feat.

Governor Sanwo-Olu took to his X handle to extend his hearty congratulations, acknowledging the movie’s significant impact on the Nigerian film industry. He praised the film not only for its box office success but also as a testament to the growth, spirit, and resilience of Nollywood and Nigeria as a whole.

The governor emphasized the importance of recognizing the role of women in the film industry, as ‘A Tribe Called Judah‘ stands as a female-led initiative. He commended the cast, including Timini Egbuson, Jide Kene Achufusi, Uzee Usman, Tobi Makinde, Olumide Oworu, Genoveva Umeh, Nse Ikpe Etim, Juliana Olayode, Uzor Arukwe, Fathia Balogun, Yvonne Jegede, and others, as well as the outstanding crew.

Additionally, President Bola Tinubu praised Funke Akindele for her contributions to the industry and celebrated the creativity and talents of Nigeria’s entertainment sector. Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, lauded the actress, noting that ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ reflected the complex challenges faced by many less-privileged families in Nigeria.
