Oluwo says chieftaincy affairs ministry should be looked into. Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, has urged President Bola Tinubu to consider establishing the Federal Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs and appointing a first-class royal father as the ministry’s minister in charge.
Oba Akanbi stated that by establishing such a ministry, royal fathers would be granted a constitutional function, empowering them and better integrating them into the democratic system of administration.
The proposal was made by the monarch’s Press Secretary, Alli Ibrahim, in a statement.
Going back in time, Oluwo advised the Federal Government to emulate the then-Western Region Government, which he said established the Western House of Chiefs and handed ministerial posts to first-class monarchs.
“We urge the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, led by President Ahmed Tinubu, to actively and directly involve traditional rulers in his administration by establishing the Federal Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs.”
