Suspects
Anambra govt arrest six for rape of 19year old girl. Six people have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 19-year-old female in Anambra State: Afam Ezenwa, Chijioke Ifeanyi, Collins Obadom, Abuchi Okechukwu, Chima Obiekezie, and Sunday Okafor.
According to reports, the incident occurred a few days ago in the Anam community in the state’s Anambra West Local Government Area.
The accused, aged 16, 17, 18, 20, and 27, were reported to have committed the deed after ambushing and pushing the victim into a room where they took turns defiling her.
Ify Obinabo, the state Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, detained the suspects in coordination with state security operatives.
Obinabo went on to say that the rape victim had been rescued and that the suspects had been brought to the state Criminal Investigative Department of Police in Awka, where they would face charges.
She stated that the arrest was made in response to a viral video on the internet of a 19-year-old girl being gang raped by roughly six youths in Anam, Anambra West LGA.
She said, “The ministry and security operatives did not only rescue the victim but equally apprehended the suspects and had the case transferred to the state criminal investigative department of police in Awka where they would be charged to court for their crime.
“The high rate of crime among Anambra delinquents is concerning.” Parents and guardians must cease sparing the rod and therefore spoiling their children.
“The administration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo will not tolerate any form of crime in the state; justice will be served fully.”
During questioning, the victim stated that the incident occurred when she visited her maternal house in Oramaetiti and was ambushed by a group of lads who brought her to a room and took turns defiling her.
Despite her pleas, the suspects continued to have their sexual full with her as one of them was photographing her during the deed.
She also stated that after being rescued by some neighbors who heard her yelling for help, she returned home only to be confronted by another group of boys who harassed her and then forced her to pull her underwear and give it to them, which she did because they threatened to kill her.
She said that a kind Samaritan later returned her to her parents.
The victim’s mother, who requested anonymity, stated that her daughter was the third victim of the suspected rape suspects, who are renowned for raping females and collecting their pants, resulting in the death of their victims after a period of time.
She begged the state government not to dismiss the complaint since their daughter’s life is in danger, especially because they have yet to reclaim her daughter’s personal things.
