Hospital in Nassarawa issues deadline for unclaimed corpses. The Federal Medical Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State, has issued a two-week deadline for the removal of nine unclaimed corpses from its mortuary.

This was contained in a statement signed by the medical center’s Public Relations Officer, Miss Esther Bature, and made accessible to newsmen in the state’s Keffi Local Government Area on Friday.

According to Bature, the decision by the management of the medical centre to issue the deadline is due to the fact that some of the corpse were brought to the hospital in the year 2021 and others in 2022, thereby exceeding the time limit of 6 months permitted by law.

“Consequently, members of the public who lost their loved ones during the stated period indicated herein, may please, visit the hospital’s morgue for possible identification and claim,” she added.

The PRO, therefore, reiterated that at the expiration of the two weeks deadline starting from Friday, September 22, 2023, the medical centre will be left with no other option than to give the nine corpses a mass burial.
