Senate start screening new CBN gov, others today
The Senate has commenced the screening for Olayemi Cardoso, who is under consideration for the role of the substantive Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Furthermore, the Senate is also evaluating four deputy governor nominees for the apex bank. These deputy governor nominees are Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala Bello.
The screening procedure was initiated after a motion was presented by the Majority Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele.
Recall that, President Bola Tinubu approved the nomination of Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria pending his confirmation by the Senate.
Last week, Cardoso assumed duty as the CBN governor in an acting capacity pending his screening and expected confirmation by the Senate.
