Gunmen kill three people and kidnap eight in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has officially verified an assault carried out by individuals believed to be bandits. This attack resulted in the tragic loss of three lives and left several others injured in the Soro community, situated in the Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Monday.

ASP Ahmad Rufai, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, confirmed the incident. He revealed that a group of armed men, suspected to be bandits, initiated an assault on the Soro community. Fortunately, the state police, with the support of military personnel, swiftly intervened and successfully repelled the attack.

Nevertheless, the police spokesperson noted that the assailants, in their frustration, set several houses on fire. This unfortunate act resulted in the loss of three lives among the residents, with several others sustaining various degrees of injuries.

“A total of eight people, primarily women, were abducted by the bandits and taken away on motorcycles,” reported a local hunter to celebritytelegraph.com.

Residents who commented on the situation informed celebritytelegraph.com that a reprisal attack by some vigilante groups targeted a Fulani community. This incident prompted the intervention of Police Commissioner Ali Kaigama, who initiated a dialogue among the residents of the affected areas to address the escalating tensions.
