In a resolute stance, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz voiced unequivocal condemnation for the recent Hamas attack on Israel and assured Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Germany’s unwavering support. This commitment was conveyed during a significant phone conversation between the leaders. Additionally, Chancellor Scholz announced a thorough review of Germany’s humanitarian aid efforts for Palestinians.
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel also stood in firm opposition to the multi-front assault orchestrated by Hamas against Israel. In a statement, Merkel emphasized, “I condemn the attacks by Hamas on the state of Israel in the strongest possible terms.” She further expressed her solidarity with the Israeli people and the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Merkel, a prominent centre-right figure who guided Germany from 2005 to 2021, reiterated her unequivocal support for Israel during this challenging time.
