“Ogun State Police Command has arrested one reckless truck driver identified as Emmanuel Alfred and one other driver who recklessly killed another road user and a two-year-old girl in separate motor accidents in the state,” according to the statement.
“On December 3, 2023, a motor vehicle rammed into Alfa Rafiu, of Ile Ofearan in Kwara State, who was repairing his Toyota Hiace Bus, which was well parked by the roadside after developing a fault.”
“The driver, Alfa Rafiu, died on the spot.” The body has been interred at an Ibafo mortuary. The automobile has been collected and stored for safekeeping.
“In a related development, another fatal accident occurred at Warewa on December 2, 2023, when one Tunde Poopola reported that while driving along Ganu Road on his way to the 12th Avenue entrance, a driver did not notice that his rear tyre had rammed over a child and continued driving.”
“When people in the area saw what had happened, they yelled at the driver, who then stopped to find out what had gone wrong.” The driver and others hurried the two-year-old to a clinic, but he was later referred to a different facility in Magboro.
“Unfortunately, the doctor on duty later confirmed the two-year-old’s death.” The driver has been apprehended correctly. After they insisted on taking the deceased victim’s corpse, the child’s body was released for burial.
“The police commissioner, Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, has warned the drivers in the state to avoid reckless driving and obey traffic, especially during this Yuletide season, noting that the police will not hesitate to prosecute any driver who causes death or cause injuries to other road users.”
