Ondo acting gov pursues Akeredolu’s vision. Ondo State acting Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, called on the people of the state and all stakeholders on Thursday to help him in carrying out his principal, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s, vision of moving the state ahead.

According to the PUNCH, Aiyedatiwa took over as acting governor on Wednesday after Akeredolu wrote to tell the state House of Assembly that he was returning to Germany for a follow-up on his medical treatment.

In June, the ill governor traveled to Germany for medical treatment, and he returned in September. During his absence of three months, his deputy served as acting governor.

However, upon Akeredolu’s return in September, signs of a schism between him and his deputy appeared when he fired all of his deputy’s media assistants and the Assembly sought to impeach Aiyedatiwa for alleged gross misconduct committed while serving as acting governor.

The crisis became a legal concern, and both the All Progressives Congress national leadership and President Bola Tinubu had to intervene by bringing stakeholders to Abuja twice for discussions.

Aiyedatiwa took over as acting governor for the second time on Thursday.

In a nationwide broadcast on Thursday, Aiyedatiwa stated that the current political crisis in the state had definitely tested the love for the state and democracy, imploring everyone to forget the past, come together, and work with him to improve the state.

“Yesterday is already behind us,” he remarked. This is the time to lift up, with respect and affection for one another, the governor’s noble vision and goal for the state. I would want to thank every member of the Ondo State government for your sincere support, cooperation, and dedication.

“We need renewed unity to moor the significant and accelerated development that Mr Governor has clearly envisioned and vigorously pursued.”

“What happened in the past was a temporary pause in our democratic journey, my good people of Ondo State.” We have rebounded as a government.”

According to him, the political turmoil that lasted for several months slowed the state’s progress and harmed the people, necessitating a meeting of all stakeholders.

“Also crucial is our people’s expectation that we continue to deliver on the mandate given to Mr. Governor and my humble self.” We must rapidly return to the road of accelerated progress that has escaped the state in recent months. Unnecessary distractions must be excused.

“We can no longer be divided in interest or purpose.” We must remain united until the end. We must return stronger and more determined to enhance the welfare and security of our people, which is the principal goal of government as reflected in the 1999 Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution, as amended.”

Aiyedatiwa praised President Tinubu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and other state stakeholders.
