Poverty Level in Nigeria affecting National security. Henry Mbachu, senator from Anambra State’s Awka South 1 district, has stated that Nigeria’s degree of poverty is becoming a threat to national security.

The senator, who visited local marketplaces in his area, stated that given the amount of poverty afflicting a large number of Nigerians, it is obvious that the country’s national security, stability, and unity will be jeopardized if the trend continues.

According to the Daily Post, Mbachu has urged for a more long-term approach to addressing the country’s rising poverty rate.

“My engagements have been focused more on the people, particularly the poor who live below the poverty line,” he remarked. Nigeria’s current level of mediocrity and inequality endangers national security, stability, and unity.
