Baptist church begs to stop killing Christians. The Nigerian Baptist Convention has urged President Bola Tinubu to put an end to the killings of Christians in the country’s north.

The convention also expressed sadness over the ongoing persecution of Christians in Plateau State and other parts of the country.

The church also criticized the country’s high degree of insecurity in recent years, claiming that security authorities have failed to provide a genuine answer.

The church urged security agencies to provide needed security to every Nigerian and put a stop to the senseless killings of Christians while calling on all Christians to wake up and help those who lost relatives and those who were injured in the Plateau attack and are currently in the hospital.

According to the PUNCH, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang stated on Monday that at least 50 persons were killed by unidentified gunmen in numerous towns in the state’s Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas.

While expressing concern about the recent series of attacks and wanton destruction of farmlands and other property by gunmen, Mutfwang committed to take tough measures to combat insecurity in the state.

According to a statement signed by the convention’s Public Relations Officer, Rev. Eben Durodola, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday, “the Nigerian Baptist Convention has condemned the wanton killings of Christians and destruction of churches in Bokkos by yet-to-be-identified militia.”

“The militia killed approximately 50 people in NTV, Dares, Yelwa, and Chirang, where a Baptist church was burned and nine members, including the pastor of the church, Solomon Gushe, were killed.” The rampaging militias were also said to have slain 40 persons in Chirang village.

“The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev Israel Akanji, who was saddened by the killings called on security agencies to bring the culprits to book.”

“Rev. Akanji requested President Bola Tinubu to provide necessary security to all Nigerians as soon as possible and to put an end to the wanton killings of Christians in the Northern part of the country,” the statement continued.

“The convention is saddened by the continued slaughter of Christians like chickens in Plateau State and other parts of the country, as well as the country’s high level of insecurity over the past years with no meaningful solution from security agencies.”

“We call on all Christians to wake up and provide assistance to those who lost their relations and those who were wounded in the attack and are currently in the hospital,” he went on to say.

While praying for the country’s peace and security, particularly in areas prone to attacks by militia and others, the church encouraged security agencies to provide the necessary security to every Nigerian and put an end to the needless killings of Christians.
