AFCON finalists, Shettima promises a government award.
Vice President Kashim Shettima meets with the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, after their triumph over the South African Bafana Bafana.
Vice President Shettima stated that the team’s “commitment and dedication” in making it to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Cote d’Ivoire will be recognised by the Federal Government.
Vice President Shettima, Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Minister for Youths Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, oil tycoon Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council member Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau visited the players in the dressing room, according to a statement issued by the Super Eagles and posted on their official platform.
The Vice President acknowledged the team’s valiant win in the semifinals and conveyed the pride of the Nigerian people and government in their achievement while on this tour.
The Federal Government’s pledge to award the Super Eagles is a sign of honour and gratitude for their performance, as they defeated South Africa 4-2 on penalties to progress to the AFCON final.
