Emir urges First Lady to address Hunger and insecurity
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has appealed to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to advocate for urgent action from her husband, President Bola Tinubu, in addressing pressing issues such as hunger, starvation, and insecurity plaguing the nation. During a visit by Tinubu’s wife to Kano, the emir emphasized the critical need for immediate attention to the escalating hunger crisis and the pervasive insecurity gripping the country.
Expressing his confidence in the First Lady’s influence, Emir Bayero highlighted the importance of leveraging her unique position to communicate the realities of the nation’s challenges directly to the President. He underscored the severity of the hunger crisis and urged for swift intervention to alleviate the suffering of the populace.
Additionally, the emir called on Tinubu’s wife to implore the president to prioritize addressing the escalating insecurity, noting the urgency of the situation despite the government’s inherited challenges in this regard.
Emir Bayero also raised concerns regarding the Federal Government’s plans to relocate the offices of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Central Bank of Nigeria from Abuja to Lagos. He emphasized the need for transparency and clarity in explaining the rationale behind such decisions.
Furthermore, he encouraged the First Lady to champion her Renewed Hope Initiative Pet Programme, aimed at empowering underprivileged Nigerians, as a means of providing sustainable solutions to socio-economic challenges.
In related events, recent attacks by bandits in Zamfara and Kano states, resulting in the loss of lives, underscored the gravity of the insecurity situation facing the country.
