The Coordinator of FKL Ward E1, Lagos State of the APC, Oluwafemi Fadahunsi, and Secretary, Comrade Adebari Adewale, confirmed that Adebanjo was one of the seven persons who died during the stampede.

In the obituary released on Saturday, the party wrote, “It is with heavy hearts and regret we announce the painful death of one of our members in FKL WARD E1, Mrs Adebanjo Comfort Funmilayo of house number 104, Ibidun street by AKINHANMI street, Ojuelegba.

“She was among the 7 victims who died in the course of buying custom rice at Yaba.

“May God grant all the members of her family and all the residents of WARD E1 the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident involving the loss of lives during a stampede at a rice distribution event organized by the Nigeria Customs Service. Among the victims was Comfort Adebanjo, a member of the APC, along with six other individuals.

Reports indicate that the Nigeria Customs Service had initiated plans to distribute seized rice directly to Nigerians in response to the prevailing economic challenges and rising food prices. However, the distribution event turned tragic when a stampede occurred, resulting in the untimely deaths of seven people.

Oluwafemi Fadahunsi, the Coordinator of FKL Ward E1 in Lagos State, and Secretary Comrade Adebari Adewale, confirmed the unfortunate passing of Comfort Adebanjo during the incident.

In an obituary message released on Saturday, the APC expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire community affected by this tragic event.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of one of our esteemed members, Comfort Adebanjo, along with six other individuals, who lost their lives during a stampede while attempting to procure custom rice at Yaba.

“We extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to the families of the departed and the entire community during this difficult time. May they find strength and solace in the midst of this tragic loss.”
