Onana confident of redemption after Manchester United struggles.
Andre Onana expresses optimism as he anticipates a resurgence following early challenges at Manchester United. The Cameroon international, who joined from Inter Milan in a £47.2 million ($60 million) deal in July, faced immense pressure due to a series of costly errors, leading to a difficult mental period during his initial months at the club.
Reflecting on his experience, the 27-year-old revealed the struggle of adjusting to life in Britain, stating, “It took me six or seven months not to play good, just to feel good.” The transition proved arduous amidst the novelty of a new country, hindering his ability to feel at home.
However, Onana emphasizes a newfound sense of comfort and determination, asserting, “I will shine.” Despite acknowledging past setbacks, he remains steadfast in his belief of his capabilities and aims to surpass previous performances.
Speaking candidly ahead of United’s clash against Premier League champions Manchester City, Onana attributed his improvement to a mental turning point rather than solely on-field adjustments. Encouraged by the unwavering support from teammates and fans, he looks forward to a brighter future with the club.
Acknowledging the backing he received, Onana expressed gratitude towards his supporters, affirming, “Everything is behind me.” He looks ahead with optimism, emphasizing the collective pursuit of success.
