Wanted: Monarch, Physics Prof, and others linked to Soldiers' murder

Twenty-four hours following the burial of soldiers killed in Okuama, Delta State, the military has named eight suspects wanted in connection with the murders.

 

The soldiers, from the 181 Amphibious Battalion in Bomadi Local Government Area, were slain on March 14, 2024, while responding to a distress call during a crisis between Okuoma and Okoloba communities.

 

During the soldiers’ funeral, President Bola Tinubu urged Okuama elders to assist in identifying the perpetrators.

 

Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, called on stakeholders, particularly in the Niger Delta, to aid in apprehending the suspects.

 

Here’s what we know about those wanted:

 

1. **EPKEKPO ARTHUR:** A professor at Delta State University, Arthur is listed second and is affiliated with physics associations.

 

2. **CLEMENT IKOLO:** The Ovie of Ewu Kingdom, Ikolo faced protests over his ascension to the throne. He has been implicated in the soldiers’ killings.

 

3. **REUBEN BARU:** Son of a retired military officer, Baru defiantly challenged the government in a video, claiming involvement in the conflict.

 

4. **IGHOLI EBI:** The only woman on the list, Ebi is the mother of Amagbein, an alleged militant leader.

 

Others named include Akata Malawa David, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Sinclear Oliki, and Akevwru Daniel Omotegbono.
