Monarch urges withdrawal of soldiers from Delta community amid bloodbath
The Ovie of Umiaghwa Abraka Kingdom in Delta State, Lucky Ararile, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to instruct the military presence in the troubled Okuama community to depart from the area.
Addressing the tragic killing of 17 military personnel during a peace mission in the community, the monarch expressed deep regret and condemnation for the unfortunate incident. He emphasized that such acts of violence do not align with the cultural values of the Urhobo and other ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region.
During a thanksgiving service to mark his 12 years on the throne at the First Baptist Church, Oria, the traditional ruler highlighted the need for residents to reclaim their lives and commence the process of rebuilding despite the destruction witnessed in Okuama.
Furthermore, the monarch stressed the importance of security operatives adhering strictly to their designated roles, expressing concern over the overlap of responsibilities among different security agencies in Nigeria.
In commendation of President Tinubu’s economic initiatives, Ararile affirmed the President’s commitment to addressing national challenges and urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance the country’s welfare.
