Federal Government declares Eid-el-Fitr public holiday

The Federal Government has officially announced April 9th and 10th as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr. The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako.

 

In extending his felicitations to the Muslim Ummah for the successful conclusion of Ramadan fast, Minister Tunji-Ojo urged adherence to the virtues exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad, emphasizing qualities such as kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion.

 

Additionally, the minister called upon all Nigerians to foster unity to enhance peace and harmony within the country. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in promoting national unity and urged citizens to uphold these values in their interactions with one another.

 

The statement reiterated the government’s commitment to celebrating Eid-el-Fitr on April 9th and 10th, emphasizing the significance of the occasion for Muslims across the nation. Minister Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt wishes for a joyous Eid celebration, invoking blessings, peace, and favor from Allah upon the Muslim Ummah and Nigeria as a whole.
