Probe initiated into Aiyedatiwa campaign coordinator’s assassination
The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic death of Mr. Alaba Abe, a ward campaign coordinator for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Abe, also known as Excel, was reportedly assassinated by unknown assailants in Supare Akoko, Akoko South-West Area of the state on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred shortly after the All Progressives Congress primary elections across the state’s 18 local government areas. Abe, who also served as the returning officer for the party’s primary in Ward 10, was gunned down in front of his residence around 9 pm.
Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, stating that the command is actively investigating the matter to uncover the truth.
Additionally, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council has denounced the assassination and called upon state security agencies to swiftly investigate and apprehend the perpetrators.
David Ajobiewe, the Director-General for the LACO-FSIC in Akoko South-West Local Government, expressed shock over the incident, describing Abe as a dedicated coordinator with no history of violence or disputes.
The organization urges the police to intensify efforts in investigating this heinous crime and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
