Judicial boost: Kwara gifts Judges with new vehicles
In a remarkable show of support for the judiciary, the Kwara State Government has elevated the welfare of judges by presenting them with brand new vehicles. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq handed over 11 Toyota Fortuner jeeps to judges, with the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Abiodun Adebara, receiving a prestigious 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser for office use.
At the official vehicle presentation ceremony held at the State High Court in Ilorin, Justice Adebara revealed that earlier in the year, five judges had been allocated vehicles from the state government’s 2023 budget. Additionally, five more jeeps were acquired under the 2024 budget, earmarked for another set of judges.
In a significant development, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq allocated seven Toyota vehicles to the judiciary, six of which are designated for upcoming judges. Justice Adebara emphasized that the provision of a new vehicle is a prerequisite for appointing a new judge, as mandated by the National Judicial Council.
Expressing gratitude to the governor for his unwavering support, Justice Adebara highlighted the positive impact of the administration’s prompt approval and release of funds for vehicle procurement in the 2024 budget. He noted that the last time judges received vehicles from the government was eight years ago, underscoring the necessity of upgrading their transportation for efficient performance of duties.
The provision of these new vehicles not only enhances the functionality of judges but also elevates the dignity of their office, particularly for those serving outside Ilorin. This significant gesture will undoubtedly boost morale and facilitate the smooth execution of judicial responsibilities.
