Clarification: Kano denies stray bullet injury to journalist

The Kano State Government has refuted claims of a journalist, Naziru Idris Ya’u, sustaining injuries from a stray bullet at the State House, asserting that he was actually wounded by metal debris from an ongoing construction.

In a statement released by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Tofa, the government clarified that the journalist’s injuries were not caused by gunfire, but rather by debris at the Kano State Government House construction site.

Tofa emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and urged journalists to verify sources to prevent misinformation. He assured the safety of journalists covering events at the government house while advising caution in reporting sensitive issues.

The statement underscored the need for journalists to remain vigilant, especially in environments with potential hazards like construction sites. The government pledged to enhance safety protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As investigations continue, the public is urged to rely on verified information from credible sources and refrain from spreading unverified claims.
