Khan secures Third term as London Mayor, BBC predicts

Labour’s Sadiq Khan is set to clinch a historic third term as Mayor of London, as forecasted by BBC’s polling expert Professor Sir John Curtice.

With all 14 constituencies declared, Khan has secured nine, including two gains from the Tories. The anticipated vote share stands at approximately 43% for Khan and 33% for his Tory rival Susan Hall, marking a 2.5% swing from Tory to Labour.

Despite a slight decrease in voter turnout compared to 2021, Khan’s victory appears imminent, with counting ongoing and final results expected later in the evening.

Khan’s wins include familiar territories from the previous election, along with significant gains from the Conservatives. Meanwhile, Hall has retained several outer London boroughs.

The election also saw votes cast for London Assembly members, with Hall pledging to tackle issues like the Ultra Low Emission Zone expansion and violent crime.

Ahead of the official results, Labour’s Len Duvall expressed confidence in Khan’s victory, attributing it to support from Liberal Democrat and Green voters, while Reform UK affected the Conservative vote.
