Ondo APC aspirants urge reconciliation
Seven out of the seventeen governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state have called for genuine reconciliation following the post-primary election crisis. They emphasized the need for unity within the party ahead of the November elections.
The seven aspirants include Morayo Lebi, Professor Dayo Faduyile, Dr. Soji Ehinlanwo, Prince Diran Iyantan, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, and Jimi Odimayo. In a joint statement, they urged party members to prioritize the success of the party and embrace peace to secure a decisive victory at the polls.
The statement reads: “The party’s position is that His Excellency, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is our gubernatorial candidate, and this position should be respected by all, even though some of us have expressed reservations. We acknowledge that perfection is an ongoing pursuit.
“As party leaders who have significantly contributed to the growth of the party, we must avoid any actions that could polarize the party and undermine its unity.
“We, therefore, call on our supporters and all stakeholders to put aside personal interests and prioritize the party’s collective success.
“Victory for our party in the upcoming November governorship election is paramount. We call on all party members to rally behind our candidate, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to achieve a resounding victory.
“We appeal to other aspirants and party members who are aggrieved to set aside their grievances for the greater good of the party. We need everyone’s support in our collective march towards victory. We endorse the genuine reconciliation efforts proposed by our party.”
Reconciliation, Unity.
