Strike huts down Enugu airport.
In line with the nationwide strike, leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) shut down Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu on Monday. This move was part of the unions’ effort to enforce the strike aimed at demanding a significant increase in the national minimum wage.
The Enugu State chapters of NLC and TUC pledged to ensure full compliance with the strike action across the state. Consequently, economic activities in Enugu State came to a standstill due to the industrial action. Both public and private sectors, including banks, schools, the judiciary, and government offices, were closed when Vanguard visited.
