The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has officially lodged a complaint about allegations of sexual harassment against the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Ibrahim Lamuwa. The Minister expressed grave concern over the seriousness of the allegations and emphasized the urgency of addressing the matter thoroughly. The Ministry’s spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the complaint, and the Minister assured full cooperation in the investigation. The Permanent Secretary has declined to comment on the matter and is yet to respond to messages regarding the allegations.

 

The complainant, Mrs. Simisola Ajayi, through her lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), has called for a comprehensive investigation into the actions of Ambassador Lamuwa. The petition detailed multiple instances of alleged harassment, creating an unsafe and uncomfortable working environment. The complainant cited specific incidents where the Permanent Secretary reportedly made inappropriate advances and inappropriate remarks, as well as allegedly inviting her to travel with promises of personal benefits.
