The Delta State Police Command has launched a manhunt for Sankey Ovemureye, who is accused of killing his six-year-old daughter, Abigail Stanley. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday and was reported by the suspect’s brother.

In a statement released on Sunday, Bright detailed, “The DPO, upon receiving the complaint, dispatched operatives to the scene at Uviama New Layout, Agbarho Ughelli North LGA, where they found the child’s body. Her head had been smashed multiple times against the wall. The corpse was subsequently deposited at the mortuary. The father, who is the main suspect, remains at large.”

Delta State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered a vigorous manhunt for the suspect, assuring the public that he will be apprehended and justice will be served. Abaniwonda also urged anyone with information leading to Ovemureye’s arrest to report to the nearest police station.

In related news, PUNCH previously reported in February the arrest of a 70-year-old man, Theophilus Udeh, for killing his son over a food dispute in Eziama Lokpaukwu, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
