The Kano State Executive Council has approved nearly N100 million for the renovation of the Nasarawa Emir’s Palace, currently occupied by Alhaji Ado Bayero amidst an ongoing emirate crisis.

Governor Abba Yusuf announced this on his official X handle after the council’s recent meeting, where other significant allocations were also approved. The N99,928,541.63 fund will be used to refurbish the palace’s fence and surroundings.

This decision follows Bayero’s relocation to this mini palace after a legal battle that displaced him from the main Emir’s palace, coinciding with Muhammad Sanusi’s reinstatement as the 16th Emir.

In addition to the palace renovation, the council sanctioned N81,621,546.76 for a Sickle-Cell Care Unit at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital and N770,858,450.39 for a Post-Midwifery Institute in Gezawa Local Government Area. Another contract worth N57,066,422.52 was approved for completing the College of Nursing and Midwifery construction in Madobi Local Government Area.

The council also approved N447,621,640.79 for excess workload allowances for lecturers at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST) and Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK).

These approvals cover a range of educational infrastructure and healthcare improvements across the state, amounting to substantial financial commitments.
