Levies Suspended: Keyamo halts helicopter landing fees

Following a meeting with the Airline Operators of Nigeria’s Executives, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has paused the collection of helicopter landing fees. The enforcement rights, initially assigned to NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd by the Federal Government, are now on hold.

The decision, announced in a statement by Head of Press Odutayo Oluseyi on Friday in Abuja, takes effect from May 30, 2024. PUNCH reports that industry stakeholders’ concerns about the levies prompted this action.

Keyamo has established a committee to address these concerns. This committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, its relevant agencies, the Airline Operators of Nigeria, International Oil Companies, and NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd. The committee is expected to submit a report by the end of June 2024.

NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd had exclusive rights to collect these levies, which stakeholders questioned regarding their appropriateness. The committee’s recommendations are intended to provide a clear path forward.

Levies, Stakeholders.
