The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, has reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to transforming the health sector to enhance healthcare delivery for all Nigerians.

Speaking on Wednesday at the commissioning of the permanent site of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra State, Pate emphasized the government’s efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and services. The event included the inauguration of a 2,000-bed medical complex and the groundbreaking for a regional ultra-modern radio diagnostic center for the South-East.

Pate commended the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Joseph Ugboaja, and his team for their accomplishments and acknowledged the significant role of private sector investments in the health sector.

“The health sector is undergoing a transformation under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, focused on improving healthcare delivery for every Nigerian,” Pate stated. “This transformation is evident in infrastructure, state-of-the-art equipment, and quality health services to save lives and prevent diseases.”

He highlighted the importance of the hospital as part of the government’s commitment to providing quality health services. Pate assured continued support for the hospital and the health sector in Anambra State.

CMD Ugboaja remarked that the event was an opportunity to honor the foundational staff who have significantly contributed to the hospital’s development. “Our goal is to create a world-class healthcare facility that sets the standard for excellence in patient care, medical education, and research,” Ugboaja said.

He added that relocating the hospital to its permanent site was a deliberate effort to advance from analog to digital operations, aligning with their mission and vision.

The state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, along with other dignitaries, attended the commissioning.
