President Bola Tinubu, GCFR President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Tribunal accepts NYSC, Chicago State University, Mobil Certificates against Tinubu. The PDP and Atiku Abubakar submitted certified copies of President Bola Tinubu’s academic and work records, which the Presidential Election Petitions Court has accepted.
The documents comprise a B.Sc. certificate from Chicago State University, a NYSC Discharge Certificate, and a certificate of service from Mobil Nigeria Oil Plc.
Mike Enahoro-Ebah, a private legal practitioner, brought the documents to the PDP as their subpoenaed witness.
He observed that Tinubu supposedly acquired the documents, but they had the name ‘Bola Adekunle Tinubu’ on them.
The witness, presented by PDP’s lead Counsel Chris Uche, submitted the EC13 and EC9 nomination forms and accompanying letters to INEC as evidence.
Abubakar Mahmoud, Tinubu, Emmanuel Ukala, and Lateef Fagbemi, who represented INEC and APC, objected to admitting the documents.
The witness referenced the following documents:
(1) certified true copies of form EC9(Nomination letter of Tinubu).
(2) receipt of payment for certification.
(3) witness application letter, requesting for the documents.
(4) INEC’s Letter of response.
(5) Certificate from Chicago university belonging to the 2nd respondent( Tinubu).
(6)NYSC discharge certificate belonging to the 2nd respondent, with the name Tinubu Bola Adekunle.
(7) Certificate of service from Mobile Oil Nigeria PLC.
(8)Party Membership card.
The PDP’s lead counsel applied to tender these documents, but the respondents objected to their admissibility.
The witness provided academic records from Chicago University, including a subpoena served on the university, original admission letter, transcript from South West College, and degree certificate. The gender on the transcript referred to the witness as female.
He submitted a notarized judgement from the USA for the criminal forfeiture of Tinubu’s assets, along with a cover note authorizing it. Additionally, they presented extracts from a Guinea passport and Tinubu’s certificate of compliance.
The PDP also presented:
(1) Certified true copies of forms EC8A’s of 25 LGAs in Delta state.
(2) Certified true copies of forms EC8A’s of 13 LGA’s in Ebonyi state.
(3) Certified true copies of forms EC8A’s of 18 LGAs in Edo state.
(4) Certified true copies of forms EC8A’s of 17 LGAs in Enugu state.
(5) Certified true copies of forms EC8A’s of 27 LGAs in Imo state.
(6) Certified true copies of forms EC8A’s of 21 LGAs in Kogi state
During cross-examination by INEC’s Counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud, the witness stated that he is not spending excessive amounts of money while attempting to reveal the truth to Nigerians.
The witness confirmed being displeased about their candidate losing when asked. The court adjourned for further cross-examination later.
Wole Olanikpekun, President Tinubu’s counsel, asked Mike Enahoro-Ebah if he had the certificate from Chicago State University. Enahoro-Ebah replied that he had it, but he was not the official custodian.
He explained that he didn’t confirm if Tinubu gave up his Guinean citizenship.
Olanikpekun submitted a letter from the School to the Tribunal, which stated that Tinubu graduated with honors.
Chris Uche, who counsels for PDP, objected to Olanikpekun’s letter being admitted as evidence, but the Tribunal overruled and admitted it.
After calling 27 witnesses, the PDP formally applied to close its case for the petitioners in accordance with paragraph 46 (5) of the Electoral Act. The case was adjourned to July 3rd for the respondents to present their defense after this move.
