Lavrov-Russia awakes upon Wagner’s insurrection. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that Moscow will emerge “stronger” than before from the aftermath of a recent military insurgency by the Wagner mercenary group.
“Russia has always surmounted all of its difficulties… It gets stronger and stronger. This time will be no different. “This process has already begun,” Lavrov told journalists at a press conference in Moscow last week, when the rebels marched on the capital to depose the country’s military authority.
The revolt, led by mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, posed the most serious threat to President Vladimir Putin’s decades-long rule and spurred Kremlin efforts to disband the private military outfit.
Following a huge recruitment campaign in Russia, the Wagner group played a key part in the conquest of numerous east Ukrainian towns, including Bakhmut.
In response to a question from a foreign media outlet, Lavrov stated, “thank you for your concern about our national interests, but you should not be concerned.”
