Governor Rotimi Akeredolu
Akeredolu seeks extension of medical leave. Ondo State House of Assembly confirmed on Monday the letter submitted to it by state Governor Rotimi Akeredolu alerting it of the continuation of his medical leave.
The governor, who is ill and being treated in a hospital, informed the Assembly of his medical leave on June 5, 2023, and was due to resume on July 6, 2023, but was unable to do so.
To this end, the speaker of the Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji, in a statement, said the governor could not resume as he was following the instructions of his doctor to take adequate rest after recuperating.
The speaker, who received the letter on behalf of other parliamentarians, stated that the governor’s conduct was in accordance with Section 190 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution (as amended).
According to the statement, “His (Akeredolu’s) deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would continue to act as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary.”
The speaker thanked God for the governor’s quick recovery and expressed hope that he would soon resume his duties.
