PSG prepare €120m Osimhen bid. According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Paris Saint-Germain is contemplating a second €120 million deal for Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.
In June, the French champions’ initial offer of €100 million for Osimhen was rejected. While the new price falls short of Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis’ appraisal, it still outperforms other interested clubs’ offers.
According to reports, Napoli values Osimhen at €150 million, a price tag that no other team is willing to fulfill at the moment. De Laurentiis has discounted rival bidders such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, thinking that PSG is the only team capable of affording the brilliant attacker.
“The only club in the world that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain,” De Laurentiis told Mediaset.
“We’ll see what happens if (PSG president) Nasser Al Khelaifi submits a bid of around €200 million.” Victor, in my opinion, will remain here.”
Meanwhile, Calciomercato reports that Osimhen and Napoli are negotiating a contract extension, with the club hoping to include a release clause that would only become effective in the summer of 2024 for a value greater than €100 million.
In the summer transfer window, De Laurentiis told Osimhen’s agency that he would only consider offers close to €200 million. Despite the impasse in discussions, Napoli remains committed to provide a good contract to its star player.
Bayern Munich is interested in Osimhen, but they deem Napoli’s economic demands to be unreasonable and have decided to terminate negotiations. PSG currently pose the greatest challenge to the Azzurri, having selected the Nigeria international as the best successor for World Cup champion Kylian Mbappé.
According to French sources, PSG is about to make a bid of around €120 million.
Osimhen scored 26 goals and gave five assists in 32 league appearances last season, helping Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in more than three decades.
Osimhen also became the first African player to win the renowned Capocannoniere trophy, which is given to Serie A’s best scorer.
The Nigerian forward is set to return to pre-season training on July 19, while he awaits news about his future.
