Kano gov to complete abandoned projects in 44 LGAs. The Kano State Government has pledged to complete the five-kilometer dual carriageway projects abandoned by the state’s immediate previous governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in the state’s 44 local government areas.
During a courtesy call on Thursday, the Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Infrastructure, Marwan Ahmad, announced this when greeting the new leadership of the State Correspondents’ Chapel.
Ahmad stated that the state administration, led by Governor Abba Yusuf, would finish the road improvements to improve human and vehicular mobility inside the local government offices.
“The state government will do everything possible within limited resources to complete the road project in order to ease human and vehicular movements,” Ahmad stated.
He also stated that the state government was resolved to reopen the 26 schools that had been closed by the previous administration.
He stated that the state administration felt it was vital to reopen the schools due to their contribution to the state’s social and economic growth.
“Most of these schools used to provide job opportunities to our teeming unemployed women and youths,” the commissioner said.
Among the schools he mentioned were Informatics Institute, Kura, Sports Institute, Karfi, Skills Acquisition Centre Gabasawa, and Poultry Institute, Makoda.
“As a result, the government has begun serious work and is attempting to restore the state’s lost glory,” the commissioner stated.
The previous administration has accused Rabi’u Kwankwaso’s administration of leaving a liability of over N54.4 billion for the five-kilometer road construction across the 44 LGAs.
During Kwankwaso’s administration, Ganduje also served as deputy governor and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
