Kidnap of UNICAL director confirmed. Prof Patrick Egaga, Director of Servicom at the University of Calabar, has been kidnapped, according to police in Cross River State.
On Sunday night, gunmen grabbed Egaga from his house at the university staff quarters.
SP Irene Ugbo, the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event on Monday, saying, “We are working to secure his release.”
The PRO of the varsity, Mr Effiong Eyo, also confirmed the incident, adding rescue efforts are ongoing.
According to reports, the gunmen abducted Egaga, a professor at the university’s Department of Special Education, using the waterways through which they entered the staff quarters.
This is following the report that the Director of Servicom at the University of Calabar, Prof. Patrick Egaga, was abducted on Sunday night by gunmen at the university staff quarters.
Egaga, who is a professor at the Department of Special Education in the institution, was said to have been abducted at his residence.
The Police Command in Cross River, which confirmed the abduction in an interview with newsmen in Calabar on Monday, said that action has been initiated to secure his release.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident, said that though the family didn’t report the incident, “we are working to secure his release.”
