Building site in Lagos
2 injured, 1 dead at Lagos building site. A 40-year-old man merely named as Chinedu was declared dead, while two others were injured when bags of cement toppled on three construction workers on Usman Mogaji Street in Ajangbadi, Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learned that the event occurred at 1:00 a.m. on Monday.
It was also discovered that the three construction workers were sleeping inside the building site when the cement bags crashed on them.
After hearing a scary noise, an eyewitness who requested anonymity said he saw cement sacks on the three workers, who were injured.
“I only heard a noise that sounded like someone pleading for help.” When my buddies and I heard the noise, we hurried to see what was going on and saw cement sacks on three persons.
“We rushed them to the hospital right away because there was so much cement on them.” I’m sure they would have been hurt because hauling cement is difficult, let alone having several cement bags fall on them.”
According to another eyewitness, Abimbola, the victims were promptly brought to the hospital, but one person died and 2 others were injured.
She further stated that efforts were made to transport the body to the mortuary while family members were called.
“They were taken to the hospital for medical treatment,” she said. “Unfortunately, on arrival, one of them, whom they called Chinedu, died, while the other two sustained injuries.” “However, I believe they wanted to take his body to the mortuary, and we attempted to contact family members about the situation,” she added.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, verified the event to our correspondent when reached.
