Philip Shaibu
Shaibu claims he will win Obaseki’s candidate. Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, has voiced confidence in his victory in the state’s upcoming governorship election.
Shaibu stated unequivocally that he would defeat the state governor’s handpicked candidate, Godwin Obaseki.
Shaibu stated this on Monday evening during a TVC broadcast.
This comes just 24 hours after he made a formal announcement declaring his intention to run for the Peoples Democratic Party ticket in the upcoming party primary.
Following his statement, Shaibu opened his campaign office in Benin City, the state capital. A sizable crowd of party supporters attended the ceremony.
“I will undoubtedly defeat the so-called governor’s candidate, not because I have power, but because the people of Edo want their own, and I am their own.” The Edo people do not want imports; they prefer to produce their own.
“The problem I have with the governor is that he has allowed certain individuals that have interest in governance to come between us.
“He manages in his own style and in the way he believes he can manage it.” I’m also handling it in the best way I know how.
“When I said I was pressed, but not distressed, I understand the kind of intimidation and oppression I have gone through,” the presidential candidate remarked.
