Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo
Iyabo Ojo demands double from Naira marley. On Monday, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo reacted to a letter written by Olalekan Ojo, the lawyer for Nigerian musician Naira Marley.
In her response, Iyabo demanded N1 billion from Naira Marley for failing to serve her with a pre-action letter.
According to the paper uploaded on the actress’s Instagram profile (@IyaboOjofebris), Iyabo sought the amount due to Naira Marley’s “deliberately misleading the public.”
Naira Marley had previously demanded a public apology and N500 million in damages from Iyabo.
Iyabo’s Instagram post from September 2023 was referenced.
She was claimed to have accused Naira Marley of having “spiritual and physical dealings” with late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, which caused the late performer “mental harm.”
“It is our instruction that sometime in September 2023, you maliciously and falsely disclose information on and about our client on your official Instagram profile ‘iyaboojofespris.’
“Your publication of the above words on the Internet, which is easily accessible to system users, constituted serious libel and caused our client enormous damage to his reputation.”
“Our client requires an unequivocal retraction from you within seven days of receipt or delivery of this letter.”
“The public apology is to be published on your official Instagram handle, @iyaboojofespris, and also on one national daily.”
“Our client would’ve ordinarily dismissed your letter dated December 12, 2023, for being outright inconsequential and of no relevance, based on your failure to transmit the correspondence until this very day,” Iyabo said through her attorney.
“Our client regards your client’s demands as spurious, frivolous, and clout-seeking, but will take action if your client fails to comply.” Our client would be demanding N1 billion.”
Mohbad, a former Naira Marley signee, died on September 12 at the age of 27.
