Fatal Auto crash in Shagamu, 2 dead, 7 injured. Two people were killed and seven others were injured in a vehicle accident at J4 on the Sagamu/Ijebu-Ode/Ore highway in Ogun State.
The accident happened about 3:35 p.m. on Saturday and involved two vehicles: a Chevrolet SUV with the registration number WWW75MW and a truck with the registration number SRA584XB.
The Federal Road Safety Corps verified the accident to PUNCH Metro in a statement issued by Florence Okpe, its spokesman in Ogun State.
According to Okpe, six men and one woman were injured, and one man and one woman perished in the incident.
“Excessive speed and road obstruction were suspected causes of the crash.”
“Due to excessive speed, the jeep driver collided with the station truck.”
“The injured victims were rescued by a good Samaritan driver that was driving behind them and took them to hospital for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at the state General Hospital morgue, Ijebu-Ode by FRSC operatives,” the statement went on to say.
Meanwhile, Anthony Uga, Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, asked motorists to drive with caution and to stick to the speed limit, especially during this period of heavy vehicular traffic.
