Nigeria will host a World Bank operations manager.

On Tuesday (today), World Bank Managing Director of Operations Anna Bjerde will start a two-day visit to Nigeria.

Her visit is intended to strengthen the bank’s cooperation with Nigeria on important facets of the latter’s development agenda, according to a media advisory that was made public on Monday.

Bjerde is scheduled to have bilateral discussions with the Hon. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Hon. Olawale Edun, the Hon. Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, and Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, while she is in the nation.

She will also take part in a conference of finance ministers from Western and Central Africa, which is being co-hosted by the World Bank and the Nigerian government.

The advice continued, “Ms. Bjerde will address the meeting’s ambitious regional development priorities and how more International Development Association (IDA) funding might help nations “leap forward” and achieve sustainable growth, jobs, and development.

Bjern’s group also includes Ousmane Diagana, vice president of the World Bank for Western and Central Africa, Sérgio Pimenta, vice president of the International Finance Corporation for Africa, and Ethiopis Tafara, vice president of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.

President Bola Tinubu and World Bank President Ajay Banga met during Banga’s visit to Nigeria last year. Banga praised Tinubu during the meeting for his efforts to address the nation’s economic problems.
