Police arrest Officers in N30m extortion Case. Some officers attached to the Special Tactical Squad of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja are currently in custody following their arrest for allegedly extorting N30 million from a citizen.

This revelation was made by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released on Friday.

The extortion incident was reported through the X platform, prompting the swift action of the NPF in apprehending the officers and their associates, who initially evaded capture during the early stages of the investigation.

In his statement, Adejobi emphasized the commitment of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to upholding integrity and accountability within the force. He noted that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated to ensure swift and decisive justice in the matter.

The zero-tolerance stance of the Nigeria Police Force towards misconduct or corruption among its personnel was reiterated by Adejobi, highlighting the importance of maintaining public trust through transparency and accountability.

The NPF recognizes the significance of taking decisive action against any misconduct within its ranks to uphold the reputation of the force and strengthen efforts to maintain law and order in the country.

Earlier in February, PUNCH Online reported the arrest of officers involved in a similar extortion case, where a businessman was abducted and forced to transfer N29.9 million to the officers after being detained at one of his sites in Abuja.
