UK bans Health Workers from bringing dependents, citing migration cuts
In a move aimed at reducing net migration and addressing visa abuse, UK authorities have announced a ban on health workers bringing dependents to the country. The decision, revealed by the UK Home Office in a statement released on Monday, underscores the government’s commitment to lowering what it terms as “unsustainable levels of legal migration.”
According to the statement, the new rules are now in effect as part of a broader strategy to curtail migration numbers. In a tweet, the Home Office declared, “From today, care workers entering the UK on Health and Care Worker visas can no longer bring dependants. This is part of our plan to deliver the biggest ever cut in migration.”
The implications of the policy were outlined in a separate statement, where it was highlighted that in the previous year alone, a staggering total of 120,000 dependents accompanied 100,000 workers to the UK.
