EFCC to challenge Adoke’s Acquittal in Malabu oil case
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Friday its decision to review the recent developments concerning the Malabu OPL 245 fraud case. This includes the dismissal of charges against former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke, by a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, and the conduct of the prosecuting counsel, Offem Uket.
According to the spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, the review process involves considering options such as filing an appeal and potentially changing counsel due to the commission’s dissatisfaction with Uket’s handling of the case.
Oyewale emphasized that this decision to review the case is unrelated to speculations circulating in some media outlets regarding compromise by involved parties. He clarified that the EFCC has not accused any party of misconduct nor made conclusive statements about any ongoing investigations related to the matter.
He urged the public to disregard any misleading information and to await further actions from the EFCC regarding the case.
