Tragic discovery: Bodies found in search for Tourists
Mexican authorities have discovered three bodies in Baja California, where two Australian brothers and an American went missing. The FBI, reporting to CBS News, confirmed the discovery in Santo Tomas but has yet to identify the bodies.
Jake and Callum Robinson from Perth, along with American Jack Carter Rhoad, vanished while on a surfing vacation near Ensenada on April 27. Following their disappearance, Mexican police interrogated three individuals.
Forensic tests will be conducted to identify the bodies, with arrest warrants issued for forced disappearance. Earlier findings included abandoned tents, a burnt pickup truck, and a phone linked to the missing tourists.
Despite challenges, search efforts persisted, with authorities combing remote cliff areas. The FBI assured it is actively assessing leads and supporting the families of the missing tourists.
While Baja California grapples with violence, Ensenada’s surfing appeal draws tourists from California. Both the US State Department and Australia’s foreign ministry are closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with Mexican authorities.
