Nigeria’s redemption: Anglican Primate speaks
Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, believes that Nigeria will experience a resurgence despite its current challenges.
Addressing journalists at the Thanksgiving Service marking the conclusion of the 2024 second session of the 12th Synod, themed “By This Time Tomorrow: Breaking the Siege upon the Nation,” the Primate acknowledged Nigeria’s predicament, likening it to a siege that demands divine intervention.
“We are being occupied or surrounded by an army that is greater than us. Wickedness is an army, corruption is an army, and nepotism is an army,” he expressed. “We cannot break this yoke by ourselves. It will take the intervention of God for us to succeed.”
Ndukuba emphasized the importance of repentance, urging Nigerians to forsake their evil ways and return to God for mercy and forgiveness.
“Let us return to God in repentance,” he urged. “As we turn to God in repentance as leaders, God will show us mercy, and he will heal and forgive our sins.”
Encouraging individuals facing various forms of bondage to trust in God for deliverance, Ndukuba emphasized the significance of faith and adherence to the principles of their respective faiths.
In a related sermon, Retired Rev. Johnson Atere echoed the call for national repentance and faith in God’s word as the solution to Nigeria’s challenges. He attributed the country’s woes to leaders’ failure to heed divine guidance.
“No matter the challenges, the solution lies in the word of God,” Atere asserted, emphasizing that God’s word holds the key to deliverance.
