Super Eagles Team

FIFA-Nigeria make headways in latest ranking. According to The PUNCH, Nigeria has risen one spot in the current FIFA men’s rankings for June.

The Super Eagles, who were rated 40th in the world in May, gained six points and moved up to 39th.

The Eagles’ surge in the standings was partly owing to their strong performance in the month under review versus Sierra Leone in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In the encounter in Liberia, Jose Peseiro’s men defeated the Leone Stars 3-1.

The victory also secured them a place at next year’s AFCON, which will be held in Ivory Coast.

The Eagles were ranked 40th in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, which were released in April.

On the African continent, three-time African champions remain in the top six, which means they will be among the top seeds when the AFCON draw takes place later in 2023.

Meanwhile, Morocco remains Africa’s number one nation, ranked 13th in the globe.

Senegal (18th), Tunisia (31) Algeria (33) and (34th) follow.

Argentina remains the top-ranked nation in the world, ahead of France, Brazil, England, and Belgium.
