Abdulaziz Yari, Ex Governor of Zamfara state
Yari released from custody. Abdulaziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and senator representing Zamfara West, has been released from the custody of the Department of State Services, according to the PUNCH.
Senator Sumaila Kawu (NNPP, Kano South), one of his buddies and the senator representing Kano South, broke the news of his release.
In the early hours of Sunday, the congressman announced Yari’s release on his Facebook page.
“God the owner of the generation, Senator Yari is free, we thank God, the leader without end,” he wrote.
According to a source close to the congressman who escorted him to the DSS office on Sunday, he will be released soon.
“Senator Yari is still in DSS custody, but he should be released soon in sha ‘Allah,” the source stated. Following the plenary, he headed directly to their office. “I escorted him there, and he’s been there ever since,” the person added.
Earlier, Peoples Gazette, an online publication, had earlier reported that Yari was arrested by the secret police after receiving a call from the director-general, Yusuf Bichi, to report at the DSS headquarters for an urgent discussion.
At the time of writing, the specifics of Yari’s incarceration were still hazy.
