President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
APC shifts NEC meeting in honour of Tinubu. The ruling All Progressives Congress postponed by one week the long-awaited sessions of its National Caucus and National Executive Committee, NEC, previously scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
According to a statement issued in Abuja by the party’s National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, both meetings will now take place on July 18 and 19.
“Members of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress are hereby informed that our meetings of 10th and 11th of July, 2023, have been postponed to the 18th and 19th of July, 2023, respectively,” the notice said.
Omisore went on to say that the date change was to honor President Bola Tinubu, who was inaugurated as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States on Sunday afternoon in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.
The ECOWAS chairperson is held for one year by one of the member countries’ presidents of state or government, who are chosen on a rotating basis.
“The postponement is due to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s regional and sub-regional schedules and engagements as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States.” “I regret the inconveniences,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee would meet with all APC State Chapter Chairmen on Monday at the national secretariat in Abuja.
According to the PUNCH, the former Nasarawa governor intends to utilize the opportunity to update state leaders on the nominations for the party’s statutory and ad hoc committees before they are brought before the NEC for approval.
According to a credible source at the national secretariat who corroborated the report, the nominations for the National Advisory Council were presented in accordance with Article 13.2 of the party Constitution.
