Undergraduate suspended in UNIOSUN. The management of the Osun State University, Osogbo, has placed an indefinite suspension on a 100-level Undergraduate student of the institution, Victory Ehiremen, following her arrest by the operatives of the Osun State Police Command in connection with a case of armed robbery in Ikire.
PUNCH Metro had reported that Victory and her boyfriend, Ayobami had allegedly lured the victim, said to be based in Lagos State, who she met via WhatsApp to Ikire, Osun State, where he was assaulted and a sum of N1.5 million was transferred from his account.
Victory, when paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe, on Wednesday, however, said she only witnessed how her Lagos lover was assaulted, but was unaware that money was transferred from his account.
Speaking to journalists on the university’s campus in Osogbo on Thursday, Vice Chancellor Prof. Clement Adebooye said management made the decision after considering the suspect’s statement and intelligence at its disposal, noting that the institution has a tradition of excellence, with many of its former students excelling in their various endeavors.
“The case of Ahiante Victory Ehiremen is a shock to us, even though she is in her first year of study,” Adebooye added. I obtained a security report on her case, and based on the official material available, the police authorities have charged her with conspiracy and robbery.
“As a result, she is being held in police custody for further investigation and prosecution.” The suspected involvement of Ahiante Victory Ehiremen in a criminal crime violates her matriculation oath. She provided a written statement, which the University evaluated in conjunction with the available intelligence assessment.
“The University authorities have therefore decided that Ms Ahiante Victory Ehiremen hereby placed on indefinite suspension in line with regulations guiding studentship pending the determination of her case according to the law of the Federation.”
